As a longstanding green flooring industry advocate aware of some of the environmental issues in the industry, ETX Surfaces has defined the language used to describe what makes our wood flooring products truly green. Below is an in-depth explanation of the symbols and language we use on our products.
Third Party Certifiers
|Lacey Act Compliant
In 2008, Congress passed a law banning commerce in illegally sourced plants and their products, including wood products. It is unlawful to import, export, sell, acquire, or purchase fish, wildlife or plants and plant products, including products made from illegally logged woods, that are taken, possessed, transported, or sold: 1) in violation of U.S. or Indian law, or 2) in interstate or foreign commerce involving any fish, wildlife, or plants taken possessed or sold in violation of State or foreign law.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
The product has met the indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments.
|The U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC) is the driving force of a green building industry, bringing together a diverse constituency of builders and environmentalists, corporations and nonprofit organizations, elected officials, concerned citizens, teachers, and students. USGBC is the developer and administrator of the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification program and the convener of the Greenbuild® International Conference & Expo.
LEED® certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home, or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health, including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
